Not one...

This month I am decorating a loft conversion I will be moving into in the next week or so. Decorating is hard work from top to bottom but it is rewarding. I am also shooting various projects. It is a busy and an exciting time. But there is one event that I have had my mind on for some time. The Beijing Olympics.

An event that has been without doubt, surrounded with turmoil and yet a great celebration of the nation of China. Never in history has international attention been concerntrated upon China. Following the months since Febrauary leadin up to tomorrow, has been interesting from both the western and Chinese media and populace. I have learnt a lot.

Never in the history of China has it become the worlds attention and critisicism. In this age of fast talk and spin, this modern age of resource wars, political agendas beyond comprehension and a fast emerging superpower with equal problems, if not more, than any industrial nation faces, has all come to fore in the past year. More will follow. And this is where it begins, after the Olympics. Anything before is an epilogue.

Many bad practices happened for the development of Chine till now and continue to. Many bad practices took place for the Olympics to happen. But in justification, China is at it’s developmental infancy. It has time to grow and balance out it’s historical wise men and hardworking populace to be a great society. A society the world has not seen in millennia’s. I hope.

Although I am neither nationalistic or a sports fan, I nonetheless feel extremely proud of what China has risen to in the past 30 years. It is also something I regret not being in Beijing for. Hopefully I will make Shanghai in a few years.

very proud - J
