Thirty Something

In the mid eighties there was a popular TV show called Thirty Something and a new board game called Pictionary, both of which were all the rage. And one thought as a kid, it was so sophisticated and grown up to drink wine and play Pictionary. I was invited to two different parties but I didn't want to be talking to and surrounded by a bunch of strangers so instead I went to my sister's. I was sitting there drinking wine and playing Pictionary with my sister and family and my cousin and her husband. We were listening to music from the 80's, from our childhood.

At some point in time I turned thirty. I don't know how it came to pass because if I knew it was happening, I never would have allowed it. One consolation is that I can drink a lot more, despite that this morning I could not ascertain if I was in fact hung over or, still pissed. The other consolation is that I still look like I am 22.

I raise my glass to you all, here's to the collective mental impasse of time we call the New Year.

Oh… another thing that comes with turning thirty is that you lose your sarcasm and cynicism.

Love and peace,
J
